 Martial artist, actor,Wushu Champ Jet Li was born on April twenty-six, 1963 in Heibei, Martial on the fringes of Beijing, China. His father passed away when he was 2.

At a very young age, Jet Li acquired an interest in wushu, the predominant martial art in China, and enrolled at the Beijing Wushu academy at age 8. He won 5 gold medals in the Chinese championships, his 1st when he was but 11 and even performed in front of United States. President Nixon at the White House as part of a cultural exchange during the 1970's.

Jet LiSubsequently retiring at age seventeen, Jet Li advanced to win great acclamation in China as an actor. He was nineteen when he appeared in his 1st movie, Shaolin Temple, the 1st modernistic kung fu film made in Communist China.

After his success in Hong Kong, and establishing a cult following in the United States. Jet Li accomplished a presence in American movies. His 1st English-speaking character was as a villain in Lethal Weapon four . His 1st leading character in a Hollywood film was the highly applauded Romeo Must Die, for which he sustained bruised ribs while shooting the fight stunts with Anthony Anderson. In 2006, he released his last wushu epic, Fearless.

Li and Jackie Chan are presently shooting The Forbidden Kingdom. Founded on the fable of the Monkey King from the Chinese folk novel Journey to the West , it's due out in Apirl 2008.

In 1987, Jet Li got hitched with Beijing Wushu Team member Huang Quiyan. They had 2 babies and divorced in 1990.

Li wedded Nina Li Chi in 1999, a Hong-Kong established actress. He has 2 children with her as well.

Jet Li was on vacation in the Maldives when the tsunami hit during the 2004 Indian Ocean quake. At the time, it was widely reported that he had passed away during the catastrophe. However, he only suffered a minor foot injury, caused by a piece of floating furniture, while guiding his four-year-old daughter to safety.
